Troubleshooting

If a client application cannot connect to the Gateway, you should check that:

there is a dborbd process running on the network
the values for the resource OrbSeedNbr are the same in both the Gateway's DbuimxOrb and in the client's
the value for the resource PrimaryOrbHostName in the client's $XAPPLRESDIR/DbuimxOrb is the correct name of the host on which the Gateway is executing
if you reboot, you must restart the Gateway

If, for some reason, incorrect database server names are displayed in the Sapphire/Gateway's Network Object Browser, you should ensure that:

Sapphire/Gateway is connecting to the correct daemon
for Sybase, that the Gateway daemon has access to the $SYBASE/interfaces file
for Oracle, that the environment variables ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, and/or XAPPLRESDIR are set appropriately
for Informix, that the Gateway daemon has access to the $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file
